Our aim is to teach students through selected texts of Czech and world literature of the 19th century. understand. how to fulfill the communicative goals of literary education in relation to our present and especially everyday life. The course focuses on the perceptual component (the art of extracting information from a text - the artistic character, historical, social), as well as on the production component (the creation of own opinion on the work and its defense). The course builds on the development of reading literacy and critical thinking in future teachers. Objectives: Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: - Interpret the basic theses of the issue of "worldliness" of literature, reflect on the national character of literature and the concept of region, - list and define and interpret the basic trends in the development of 19th century literature, - discuss the problems of "classical" and "modern" literature and the art of translation, - analyse significant works of world and Czech literature of the 19th century, - illustrate social development through specific literary examples, - classify and interpret individual literary works of the first half of the 19th century, - argue in discussions about the artistic value of a work.
