The course focuses on the culture of speaking (basic characteristics), the importance and role of of the culture of spoken expression in life, the relationship to linguistic culture (stability, adequacy, accuracy) and culture of written language as a deliberate cultivation of written language (theory, education, practice). Next, we will look at (1) speech as a constitutive factor of speech: speech spoken/speaking written speech, spoken speech and communicative situations; (2) the basics of written pronunciation of vowels (articulation); (3) the sound devices of spoken speech (articulation of speech: tact and rhythm, word accent, stress and phrasing), or modulation and the breathing (respiration) and vocal (phonation) components of speech (phrasing; dynamics, intonation, tempo and timbre (modulation of voice colour); (4) the art of presentation: the relationship presentation to speaking, basic characteristics (examples, criteria for successful presentation: programs, font, multimedia); and last but not least (5) nonverbal means of spoken (5) nonverbal speech (facial expressions, proxemics, gestures, posturing, etc.). We will extend our common interest in spoken discourse to more complex communications (based on project-based approach). Analysis of online spoken utterances. Criteria for successful speaking (pragmatics): Practical practice, wider context + short introduction to rhetoric (speechifying); specific resources specific features of a speech (character and preparation).
