Course content
Introduction to the study of literature and definition of basic terminology. Characteristics of fiction, journalism and science literature. Literature function. Beautiful literature as a kind of communication. Literature Periodization (Literary Periods and Directions). Construction of a work of art. The language of the artwork. Fundamentals of verbology. Basic literary genres and genres. Interpretation of literary work. Literary-related documentation and foundations of research work.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students should be able to: - to clarify the functions of literature and its relation to other types of art, - to describe and evaluate basic artistic periods, directions and their representatives, - to explain basic literary-terminology, - to evaluate the contribution of reception aesthetics for the interpretation of the work of art, - to divide and explain the basic artistic genres and genres, - to clarify approaches to text interpretation (construction and language of a literary work), - to specify the basics of Czech verbology, - apply acquired knowledge to solving practical tasks; - interpret artistic literary text.
