Learning outcomes
The seminar is based on three complementary and mutually supportive levels: (1) to gain a basic insight into the study of language, including elementary theoretical foundations (and terminology); (2) to expand existing awareness of specific issues related to language in a broader historical and systemic context; and (3) to foster skills that lead to the conscious use of linguistic knowledge in the practice of teaching. Goals: Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) navigate the basics of Czech grammar and use basic linguistic terminology functionally; (2) understand the basic parameters of the morphological and syntactic system of Czech language; (3) to understand the development of Czech (also in relation to other Slavic languages).

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Credit Credit will be given in the form of a written test, which will focus on the individual topics discussed in the seminars. Some questions will test the students' overview of the subject matter and their understanding of the selected concepts. The test will also work with the students' acquired skills, especially in terms of working with specific language material. For ISP students: by individual arrangement with the instructor, the student will submit exercises and a term paper on a specified topic on which he/she will be able to speak coherently for at least 10 minutes.
