Course content
1. The foundations, functions, and content structure of literature for children. 2 The specific features of children's literature, and its place in national literature. 3 The characteristics of the most common genres of children's literature, their development and current status (folk and artistic poetry, folk and authorial fairy-tales, stories with child heroes, artistic- and popular-science fiction). 4. The issue of literary kitsch in children's literature. 5. Improving skills in the interpretation of artistic texts.

Learning outcomes
The foundations, functions, and content structure of literature for children. The specific features of children's literature, and its place in national literature. The characteristics of the most common genres of children's literature, their development and current status (folk and artistic poetry, folk and authorial fairy-tales, stories with child heroes, artistic and popular science fiction). The issue of literary kitsch in children's literature. Improving skills in the interpretation of artistic texts.
Acquire an overview of basic literary genres. To explain the specific literature for children and youth. Specify the trends of individual genres of literature for children and youth with regard to key authors. Interpetovat selected literary works.

Oral exam, Written exam

Active participation in class (80%) and continuous performance tasks and seminar papers.
