Course content
|
The essence, function and content structure of children's literature. Specific features of children's literature, its place in national literature. Characteristics of selected genres of children's literature, their development and current state (folk and artificial poetry, folk and author's fairy tale, myths, myth, fable and legend). Issues of literary kitsch in children's literature. Developing children's reading literacy. Stages of reading literacy development. Reading strategies for preschool children. Staging of children's reading. Library and local projects. Awards given to creators of children's literature. Contemporary illustrators of children's books. Deepening the skills of interpreting an artistic text.

Learning outcomes
|
After completing the course students should be able to: - understand the essence, function and content structure for preschool children, - to assess and evaluate the current state and development of children's literature; - to select adequate methods of interpreting the literary text, to justify their choice and to work with examples in order to develop the key competencies of preschool children, - demonstrate the possibilities of using literary examples in practical activities, - to clarify the developmental stages of reading with a focus on emerging literacy, - apply methods and methods of reading literacy in educational activities within the kindergarten, - demonstrate ability to select appropriate text for didactic interpretation, - to propose a procedure of didactic interpretation of the artistic text, - to justify the contribution of artistic literature to personal development of children, - plan and implement a complete preparation for educational activity with pre-school children.

Requirements for students with ISP: - submission (in printed form) of a two-page worksheet based on a literary text and designed to develop reading literacy in kindergarten. Submission of a four-page essay on the possibility of developing reading pre-literacy through literature in kindergarten. Via STAG - "term paper" link, the topic of the paper is your name.
