Selected topics include valence syntax in sequence with traditional syntax (general characteristics of a sentence and a statement, sentential elements, relationships between sentential elements, and compound sentences, taking into consideration the development of Czech compound sentences in particular). Another focus is on the typology of elemental sentence structures and their hierarchy. Lectures are concurrently supplemented with up-to-date findings drawn from linguistic literature and magazines.
