Course content
|
Literature for children and youth and its place in national literature; Folk fairy-tales and their integration into artistic literature. Folkloric theories of fairy-tales. Collectors and re-tellers; Authorial fairy-tales, typology. The development of the Czech authorial fairy-tale from the end of the nineteenth century until today; World authorial fairy-tales and fantasy, and their most significant representatives; Legend, collectors and re-tellers; Czech and world poetry for children from the end of the nineteenth century until today; Storytelling prose with child heroes, developmental tendencies, and the most significant representatives; Triviality and dross in the context of literature for children; Adventure literature for children and youth. Historical and biographical topics in Czech literature for children and youth.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this subject is to introduce literature for children and youth, in accordance with the future professional needs of the graduates, as an original and valuable part of national literature intended for a specific circle of readers. A no less important aim is to provide the necessary prerequisites and expertise for graduates to develop their own interpretations of classical and contemporary texts for children and youth.
