Learning outcomes
The student will be able to: - explain the socio-cultural framework of the individual periods of the studied period. - The student will be able to explain the basic concepts and acquire literary terminology. - Identify the linguistic, formal, compositional and poetic features of a literary monument or set of literary monuments, their genre definition. - characterize and describe the life of the author(s) of literary works, or the literary monument itself, analyze the content and meaning of a literary monument. - analyze and interpret individual literary works of earlier literary periods. - recognize the artistic and social significance of a work through specific literary examples. Topics: - Epic compositions of the Hussites - Budyšín manuscript, early humanism, Hynek of Poděbrady, Jan Blahoslav, the Volslavian period, - travel writing in the Renaissance and Humanism, chronicling and historiography in the Renaissance, - theatre and drama in the Renaissance and Baroque periods, cancionals of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, Jan Amos Komenský, history of the Baroque period, poetry Baroque period. preaching in the Renaissance and Baroque periods, translations of the Holy Scriptures into Czech. - apply primary methodological practices of interpreting a work related to the development of literacy. - justify a critical approach to interpreting a work and respond appropriately in discussions of the artistic merit of a work.
