Course content |
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject focuses on the relation of literature and film art and puts the whole area in the context of media education as a cross-cutting topic according to the Framework Educational Plan for Basic Education. He takes note of the basic issues of literary and film education and focuses primarily on the interpretative possibilities of the relationship between literature and film. Part of the course will include film screenings and practical demonstrations of how to connect both areas in a meaningful and creative way in primary school. Topics: 1. Literature, film and media education: a brief methodological introduction. 2. Literary and film work as bearers of values, emotional experiences, symbols and ideology. 3. Reception of literary and film work: reader, viewer and audience. 4. The role of literary and film criticism: language and educational potential. 5. Literature in film 1: film adaptation (general introduction, basic terminology & methodology, history). 6. Literature in film 2: film adaptation (interpretation and critical thinking). 7. Literature in film 3: literary and film genres. 8. Literature in film 4: ways of literary and film narration and their interpretation comparison. 9. Classical contents in literature, film and visual arts. 10. Relation between film and social sciences: history, ZSV, psychology. 11. Language, film, culture and ethnicity: multicultural education. 12. Media pedagogy and possibilities of designing the curriculum of media education in primary school.

Learning outcomes |
After completing the course students should be able to: - Basic comparison of literary and film works in connection with primary school education. - Understand the basic concepts of film adaptation and use them in teaching not only literature. - Explain meaningfully the partial concepts of literary education for film art and vice versa. - Actively use media pedagogy practices and interpret cinematic works clearly not only in relation to their literary works.

Requirements for students with ISP: The seminar paper should include: a) a brief introduction of your chosen publication (author, year of publication, illustrator, etc.) and film (director, producers, length of film, etc.); b) the main theme/idea/message of the publication and film: this is not a summary of the content, but an excerpt of the main idea or mission; c) a description of the differences between the publication and its film adaptation; d) a proposal for the inclusion of a comparison between the publication and its film adaptation in the second cycle of primary education; e) a list of literature, films viewed, etc., in the form of a valid bibliographic citation of your choice (ISO 690, APA, etc.). |
