Course content |
The subject 19th Century Literature 2 builds on the basic requirements of the Framework Educational Program for Basic Education and aims to bring students to interconnection of cross-curricular subjects with literary texts with thematic focus so that students are able to approach the development of culture in the second half of the 19th century in accordance with a cultural, educational and aesthetic-educational function of the literary text in the elementary school pupil dimension. We emphasize the fact that by means of selected texts of Czech and world literature of the second half of the 19th century, students understand how to fulfill the communication goals of literary education with respect to our present and especially everyday life. The course focuses on the perceptual component (the art gain from the text of information - artistic character, historical, social character) as well as on the productive component (creation of own opinion on the work and its defense). The course builds on the development of reading literacy and critical thinking of future teachers. Truth and Beauty - Realistic literary pictures in the context. Historical novel as a phenomenon of realistic prose. Modern - colors and scents, symbols of the world and soul in poetry. Poetry groups in the Czech cultural context. The issue of the female emancipation movement and its manifestations in the context of literature of the second half of the 19th century. National Theater - a symbol of patriotic society, patriotism and nationalism in the second half of the 19th century. World Literature and Czech Literature of the Second Half of the 19th Century (Origins, Concepts and Polemics). The birth of marginal literary genres.

After completing the course students should be able to: Explain the notion of world literature, interpret the basic theses of "worldhood" in the context of the second half of the 19th century. to list and define and interpret the basic trends of literature development in the second half of the 19th century, to discuss the issues of "classical" and "modern" literature and the art of translation, to analyze important works of the Czech and world literary context of the 19th century. defining and explaining the socio-cultural framework of development in the second half of the 19th century and illustrating the social development of particular literary demonstrations To classify and interpret individual literary works of the second half of the 19th century, Defend your opinion in discussions about the artistic value of the work. analyze and evaluate information from the field of cultural and literary development of the second half of the 19th century.
