Course content |
Learning outcomes of the course unit The course focuses on selected aspects of contemporary approaches to language in order to acquaint students with modern and up-to-date questions and methods focused on Czech language. The subject is divided into three basic thematic areas combining knowledge from linguistic pragmatics, corporal linguistics and modern rhetoric. All sub-themes approach to native language in terms of language education according to the Framework Educational Plan for Primary Education. Topics: 1. Communications in the 21st Century (Modern Trends in Approach to Interpersonal Communication, Media Mediation and Technology, Speech / Writing, Methods of Analysis). 2. Theory of argumentation and critical thinking (methods, procedures, exercises, contemporary argumentation fouls in public communication: journalism and politics). 3. Pragmatics of Czech 1: Problems of presupposic (practical exercises). 4. Pragmatics of Czech 2: speech acts (classification, modification and interpretation). 5. Pragmatics of Czech 3: conversational maxims and implications (exercises, spoken speeches). 6. Pragmatics of Czech 4: courtesy and speech label (principle of cooperation). 7. Language and corpus (corpus of spoken and written Czech, methods of searching, use in teaching the Czech language). 8. Rhetoric and contemporary approaches to communication (so-called communication studies, principles of dialogue). 9. Application of communication strategies: advertising communications, information sources. 10. Political discourse and rhetoric (public communication, possibilities of media education in relation to traditional discipline / rhetoric).

After completing the course students should be able to: - Understand the current tendencies in access to language and use them when teaching their native language at elementary schools. - Based on the practical use of the Czech corpus, it is effective to set up exercises focused on the teaching of the Czech language. - To engage in the communication and communication skills of contemporary approaches to communication. - Use the knowledge of contemporary rhetoric to provide effective access to selected communication and media issues education.
