After completing the course students should be able to: - define the content and functions of literature for children and youth, - to explain the specifics of literature for children and youth, - to clarify the role of literature for children and young people in terms of the development of reading literacy, - to enumerate and characterize genres of literature for children and youth, - to assess and compare the most significant folklore theories of the fairy tale, - to evaluate the approach of significant collectors of folkloric verbs to folklore and its inclusion in the literature for children and youth, - to appreciate the creation of prominent representatives of Czech and world author's fairy tales and poetry, to evaluate it in terms of the development of these genres, - to analyze and interpret artistic text in the context of the author's creation and the time of its creation, - to formulate and present their own interpretation of the selected title of literature for children and youth, taking into account the content of the subject.
