Course content
|
Types of materials and their historical contexts; Traditional and less traditional materials and their expressive possibilities; Textile and its historical contexts. The symbolic role of textiles in history and in the present; Important personalities of Czech and world textile art of the second half of the 20thcentury; Working with fibre, experimentation and traditional folk techniques; Textiles and body, textiles and environment, textiles and story; Sensory sensitivity as one of the contents of contemporary art education; Processing techniques; Experimentation and traditional folk techniques, material and its story.

Learning outcomes
|
To develop sensory sensitivity to various traditional and less traditional materials, to know specific properties of textiles, wood, malleable materials, wire, plaster, plastic, etc., to perceive and discover their sensory and visual values and to learn about their expressive possibilities; To master some simple artistic procedures related to the listed materials, to apply in practice the basic techniques of processing material that are sensitive to the material; To develop a creative approach to materials through play and experiment and thus create the preconditions for the development of creativity through working with art materials, including waste; To understand the spatial possibilities of the material and use them in the creation of planar works or objects; To demonstrate intermediate overlaps outside the traditional boundaries of classical art media; To combine approaches and techniques, to develop action positions of artistic expression; To apply one's personal experience to pedagogical work with children in primary school, and to initiate their creativity and expressiveness.
To have the ability to contribute to the development of aesthetic feeling in children of primary school; To know the expressive possibilities of different materials; To develop and deepen sensory perception; To develop the creative potential of children.

General knowledge in the field of contemporary art and the objectives and direction of contemporary art education.

Seminar Work
To successfully complete a term assignment. To present own practical work using the given material.
