Course content
Introduction to psychology: key areas and professional terminology of science. Psychological methodology: research methods, their potential and scientific limitations. Elementary mental processes: the nature, functioning and laws of human perception. Mental processes in learning: memory, attention and thinking in information processing. Introduction to ontogenesis: basic overview, driving forces and laws of mental development. Individual developmental stages I: mental development from the prenatal period to school age. Individual developmental stages II: changes in the psyche in adolescence, adulthood and old age. Personality psychology: the nature of formation, structure and individual characteristics. Dynamics of social behavior: behavior of an individual in the environment and perception of other people. Social psychology in practice: formation of attitudes, communication and ordinary interaction. Integration of knowledge: application of laws of development and personality in the educational process. Practical application: connection of scientific data and psychological theory with pedagogy.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide basic theoretical knowledge, including professional terminology within the psychological scientific discipline. The primary focus is on key areas of psychology, specifically selected topics of general psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology and personality psychology. An integral part of the course is also an introduction to psychological methodology, including its potential and limitations. Specifically, selected chapters will be included that deal with elementary psychological processes and functions, including their regularities. Furthermore, key aspects of the ontogenesis of the human psyche will be discussed, providing a basic overview and characteristics of the developmental stages of an individual. Attention will also be paid to topics explaining the essence of personality formation and the dynamics of social behavior. All topics discussed will be systematically directed towards the possibility of their practical use in practice. To master the basics of the field: To provide students with key psychological knowledge and teach them to use professional terminology correctly. To understand human development: To provide a comprehensive overview of the individual developmental stages of a person and the laws of his ontogenesis. To understand the processes of perception and learning: Students will understand the functioning of elementary psychological functions, processes and their internal laws. To reveal the structure of personality: To explain how the human personality is formed and what influences the dynamics of an individual's social behavior. To gain insight into scientific research: To introduce psychological methodology and show the possibilities and limits of obtaining scientific data. To connect theory with pedagogical practice: To systematically direct theoretical knowledge towards their direct practical use in educational reality.
