Course content
|
Throughout the lectures, students will be introduced to 20th century's general history, with emphasis on European history, history of the U.S.A. and history of the U.S.S.R. from 1917 until its dissolution in 1991.

|
The world in the beginning of 20th century. The causes of the World War I, the course of the World War I, the Versailles system. National states in Central Europe. The world in the twenties and thirties of 20th century. Economic crisis, the World War II - its causes and course, Yalta and Potsdam. The origin of superpowers - the U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. Cold War. De-colonizing. The year 1968 in the world. Brezhnev era in the U.S.S.R. The world in the seventies and eighties of 20th century. The doom of the Eastern Block. The world in the nineties of the last century.
