Course content
Education and the role of contemporary state administration and self-government. Competences of individual authorities in relation to schools (level of ministry, regions, towns and municipalities). Financing of education in the Czech Republic. Teacher training in the Czech Republic. European institutions and education - impact on education in the Czech Republic.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students - future teachers of civics and social sciences - with the competencies of state and local authorities in relation to education (MEYS, regional authorities, city and municipal authorities). Partial attention will also be paid to the competences and role of the individual institutions of the European Union in the context of educational policy.
At the end of the course students should be able to: - characterize the competences and role of individual administrative and self-governing authorities in relation to education - describe relations and links of individual types of schools to administrative and self-governing institutions, - define the role of EU institutions in relation to education, including Czech education.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of social sciences and history of the 19th and 20th Century.
