Course content
Ancient philosophy and Christianity. Boethius. Aurelius Augustinus. Eriugena. Medieval Philosophy: Thomas Aquinas and Albert the Great. Late Scholastics - Duns Scottus. University status and development of education and scientific thinking. From the Middle Ages to the Reformation. Martin Luther.

Learning outcomes
This course will terminological definition of basic concepts of medieval philosophy and science. It will also be presented to the medieval concept of faith and the Church as an institution. After completing the course, students should be able to: "Demonstrating orientation in medieval philosophy, "To characterize the basic attributes of medieval culture, "Clarify the system of medieval philosophical and religious thought, "To analyze the basic texts of medieval philosophy.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Following the instruction, the students will further acquaint the form of literature studies and methodological materials, the basic issues and problems of European personalities and Czech medieval thinking. A necessary condition for the credit seminar will work on the medieval thinking in a range of six pages.
