The aim of the course is to develop competences and knowledge focused on: - describe the concept of communication, define the different types of communication and identify the interrelationships between the different types of communication, - list the types and kinds of graphic communication, - distinguish between the concepts of data visualisation and infographics, - describe the basic types and elements of infographics, - list the uses of different types and methods of data visualisation, - define the concept of infographics and identify its basic elements, - describe the developmental stages of computer graphics, - understand the basic principles of displaying graphical information, including the historical context of the emergence of computer graphics as a discipline, - describe basic compression methods and vector and raster formats, - list the basic raster formats and orient themselves in working with them, - navigate the range of programs available for creating and editing raster graphics, - list and know how to work with basic vector formats, - be familiar with the range of programs available for creating and editing vector graphics, - define the concept of digital photography and describe its main characteristics.
Upon completion of the course, students will gain the following competencies in particular, and will understand the context in: - Inforgraphics and its use in practice, - data visualisation and its types, - graphical communication and its types, - basic methods and approaches to computer data visualisation, - computer graphics, its development and types, - the use of compression methods for raster images, - the use of raster graphics formats and their modification, - orientation and use of the most common programs for creating and editing raster graphics, - the use of vector graphic formats and their modification, - orientation and use of the most common programs for creating and editing vector graphics, - backing up graphic formats and converting them - using digital photography. |
