Course content
|
Geological evolution of the Earth. Origin and evolution of continents and oceans, plate tectonics, principles of stratigraphy. Origin of rocks (rock cycle, oceanic and continental crust, sedimentary environments). Geological past of the Earth. The origin of life and life evolution on the Earth. Paleobiogeography. Paleoecology. Important rock-forming organisms. Geological evolution of Europe and of the Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to make the students acquainted with the overview of the historical and regional geology.
The students ought to gain an general overview on the evolution of the Earth in the geological past, as well as on the regional geology of the Czech Republic.

Prerequisites
|
The successful finishing of the geological courses in the bachelor grade of the study is supposed.
|
Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam
The knowledge within the extent of basic study references,lectures and practical tutorials.
