Course content
|
Definition of paleoecology, and its relation to ecology. Populations and paleopopulations, biocoenoses and paleobiocoenoses, ecosystems and paleoecosystems. Field and laboratory methods of paleoecological research. Tutorials - practical interpretations of paleoecological records based on real rocks and fossils.

Learning outcomes
|
To present to the students what information can rocks and fossils contain about environments, their changes and mutual relations of organisms in the geological past.
Basic overview of the paleocology with emphasis put on its relations to ecology.
