Course content
1. Pedagogical diagnostics as a field of science, its concept and tasks. Specific features of pedagogical diagnostics in the work of primary school teacher. 2. Overview of particular areas of pedagogical diagnostics in primary school. Diagnosis of pupil's personality, teacher´s pedagogical work, diagnostics of class, family environment, diagnostics of other external factors. 3. Overview and analysis of basic methods of pedagogical diagnostics, their application in diagnostic activities of primary school teachers, specific examples, test and clinical tools. 4. Problems of child's readiness to enter school, diagnostics of school maturity. 5. Diagnosis of prerequisites for reading and writing, diagnostics of specific learning disabilities. 6. Classroom climate diagnostics, class management, role of class teacher.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Observation, Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)

  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 20 hours per semester
  • Semestral Work - 10 hours per semester
  • Attendace - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to prepare teachers of elementary school both theoretically and practically for their diagnostic role. Students will become familiar with the tasks, specific features and areas of pedagogical diagnostics of primary school pupils and acquire skills to use individual diagnostic methods in the educational process.
Students are oriented in the problems of diagnostics at primary school.

General orientation in education and general didactics.

Student performance, Seminar Work, Written exam

- active participation in lessons - elaboration of a semester task (sociometric research of a selected primary school class or diagnostic portfolio of a selected primary school pupil)
