Course content
Basic pedagogical categories and relations between them. The process of education, its phases and principles. Position of general pedagogy in the system of pedagogical sciences.

Learning outcomes
This subject focuses on the theoretical fundamentals of education. The starting point is the scientific field of pedagogy and its historical development. The fundamental features, functions, and resources of pedagogy will be specified. The system of pedagogical disciplines. The relationship of pedagogy to the other sciences. Terminology, explanation of the most frequently used pedagogical terms, and the historical and comparative relationships among them. The aims and content of education based on various philosophical concepts. Points of departure for determining educational tasks and their classification and concretization. The educational process, phases, principles, efficiency - a comparative approach. Teaching aids: institutions, methods, forms, the historical development of teaching aids. Pedagogical interactions between teacher and pupil. A person's biological, psychological, and social facilities. Cognition and self-cognition. Developmental factors in forming a human individual - heredity, environment, education. The school environment. Analyzing the environment at today's schools, inspiration from alternative systems of education.
