Course content

Empirical research in pedagogy, its types and main phases. Measuring in pedagogical research and methods of data collection in pedagogical research. Basic methods of descriptive statistics used in processing research results.

Learning outcomes
|
Scientific research in pedagogy and its main phases. Ex-post-facto research and pedagogical experiments. Most common methods of data collecting in pedagogical research. Questionnaire, standardised techniques of pedagogical observation. Selected methods of discriptive and inductive statistics. Research report.
Students will be able to characterize scientific research and its specifics in the social sciences and pedagogy. Will know the basic methods and techniques of data collection, sample design and basic characteristics of descriptive statistics. Students will be able to describe methods of testing of research hypotheses, statistical tests of significance and describe the data on which it can use. He can describe the normal distribution of the data and its properties. He will be able to verify the research hypotheses. He knows how to use correlation analysis in education research. He can apply appropriate graphical representation of data. It is able to write a final research report.

Basic knowledge of methodology, mathematics and statistics.
