Course content
The course presents an overview of the socially pathological phenomena and the possibilities of their prevention. First Basic concepts of problem. Prevention and its types. Functions of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic in the prevention of socio-pathological phenomena. Strategy of prevention of socio-pathological phenomena in children and young people in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for the period since 2009. Guidelines for primary prevention of socially pathological phenomena of children, pupils and students in schools and school facilities. Minimum prevention program, prevention methods, educational consultant in elementary school. Function pedagogical-psychological counseling, other options counseling. Second Addiction prevention. Third Crime prevention. 4th Prevention of domestic violence. 5th Prevention of CAN and ill-treatment of children in families. 6th Prevention of traffic accidents 7th Prevention of suicide. 8th Prevention of sectarianism and ritual abuse. 9th Prevention of unemployment and homelessness. 10th Prevention of discrimination and racism. 11th Prevention of bullying, mobbing and bossing. Cyberbullying prevention, Internet safety. 12th Lecture methodology prevention in elementary school.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)

  • Preparation for the Exam - 12 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Potential threats to children and youth. Some areas of studided socially deviant behaviour: drug abuse, alcoholism and smoking, virtual drugs, gambling, aggression, violence and bullying, vandalism, truancy, juvenile delinquence and criminality, CAN syndrome, racial hatred, early sexual activities, pornography, prostitution or secret cult groups. Education towards healthy lifestyle, towards positive social behaviour and personality development. Diagnostics and methods of preventing social pathologies in children and youth.
Students will be able to use after completing their theoretical knowledge and basic practical skills in the performance of their future profession.

75% attendance in lectures. Active participation in seminars ? evaluation of student?s activity is part of the final evaluation.
