Course content
The main topics of this subject are: Social position, social role, social culture, social conformance. Collectiveness and social groups. Family as a primary social group, its functions and types. Socialization, its factors, institutions, modalities. Culture in sociology, subcultures, contra-culture. Multi-culture. Mass culture. Social structure of society - class and stratification approach. Sociology of work and unemployment. Society in crisis, globalization and individualization. Sociological research - qualitative and quantitative.

Learning outcomes
This course introduces the student to the perspectives and methods of sociology, which is the systematic study of human society and social behavior. It explores the social forces that influence human relationships and the connections between personal experiences and societal patterns. Topics include different perspectives on social life, interpersonal interaction, social structure, culture, deviance, inequality, social institutions, and social change.
This is an course of General Sociology, starting with an overview of the nature of the discipline, followed by a survey of various aspects of the structures and dynamics of social life. General and specific examples are used to illustrate how thinking sociologically adds to our knowledge of world around us.
