1.Social policy, basic categories and concepts 2.Goals of social policy, target group, types of social policy 3.Principles and functiones of social policy, social sovereignty 4.Welfare state - concepts, functions and types 5.Crisis of welfare state. 6.Development of Czech social policy 7.Social policy in EU 8.Objects and subjects of social policy 9.instruments od social policy 10.human rights and social policy 11.social event - definitions, types. 12.Social protection, social insurance 13.Living wage, minimum wage, living standard, poverty as social event and its causes. 14.Types and concepts of poverty. 15.Social exclusion as the social event. social security, old age as the social event. 16.Relief of the poor, definition, welfare benefits.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is introduction to the principles, theories, basic concepts and types of social policy and welfare state.
Students will know crucial aspects of social policy as science and as practice.

|
Ability to work with scietific articles/books and course books. Critical thinking, willingness to debate.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam, Seminar Work
Class attendance and participation: 30%. Final Exam: 40 %. Seminar paper: 30%
