Course content
Using historical reminiscences in the work of primary school mathematics teacher. The most significant phases in the history of mathematics, from the period of forming the first mathematical findings, through mathematics in Ancient Greece, medieval mathematics, to foundation and development of modern mathematics in the 19th and 20th centuries. History of arithmetic and mathematics education in the Czech lands.

Learning outcomes
The course describes selected areas from the history of mathematics which can be used in mathematics classes for motivational purposes (important personalities, interesting challenges). Basic orientation of the teacher in the history of mathematics as a science, with emphasis on those facts which can be meaningfully used in work with children aged 6 -11, is a prerequisite for the didactic use of historical reminiscences in primary school mathematics lessons. That is why this particular course was integrated.
The course describes selected areas from the history of mathematics which can be used in mathematics classes for motivational purposes (important personalities, interesting challenges).
Prerequisites
The successful completion of the course is conditioned by the mastery of basic mathematical skills of study and by the ability of the student to apply the aforementioned skills within the context of didactics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Analysis of Activities ( Technical works)

Elaborating and presentation of seminar theses with the topics of characteristics of the selected period of mathematics history or a significant mathematician from the past, and historical notes in primary school mathematics textbooks.
