Course content
|
Math learning tasks ? typology, structure, and didactic functions. Types of tasks and their presentation in the textbooks: word problems, arithmetic operations, equations and inequalities, construction geometry tasks, and so on. Methods of solving mathematical problems. Analyzing the pupils' performances - problem solving, didactic tests, including via basic statistical means, accessible to the teachers of mathematics. Mathematics competitions and other forms of acquiring and developing pupils' interest in mathematics.

Learning outcomes
|
Teaching methods and procedures. Motivation, exposition, fixation, and evaluation methods used in textbooks.
In this course of study, the students gain competence to easily deal with the learning environment mathematics lessons, to manage pupils' work, to evaluate the training results, and to creatively modify the teaching methods that they apply in mathematics lessons, in compliance with the age, mental, and social needs of their pupils.

Prerequisites
|
The successful completion of the course is conditioned by the mastery of basic mathematical skills acquired in the courses of study and by the ability of the student to apply the aforementioned skills within the context of didactics.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Student performance, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio
Active participation in seminars, preparation of a seminar work on the topic related to school mathematics, its presentation in the seminar (in PowerPoint), a review and assessment of a selected textbook/textbook series for the teaching of mathematics.
