Learning outcomes
The course focuses on popular music culture's developmental and generic genre changes. It also focuses on the relationship between NAH and music pedagogy regarding contemporary music pedagogical concepts.
The student will be able to: 1. Safely navigate the various sub-spheres of nonartistic music (African American folk music, mainstream popular and rock music, chanson, musical, jazz music). 2. Understand the significant dynamizing factors that determine popular music culture. 3. Perceive the differences between functional and intentional HV and the role of popular music.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio

The student will prepare for the exam with a written thesis on 1. one thematic area chosen from the structure of the Theory and History of NAH, according to me. In Lébl, V., Poledňák, I. (eds.) Music Science III. Prague: Státní pedagogické nakladatelství, 1988. 2. a second selected topic that corresponds with the problems of his/her doctoral dissertation regarding content or methodology. The scope of the written thesis for the examination is four standard pages. 3. The student also attaches a list of studied literature on the theory and history of NAH, comprising at least ten titles. Three titles must be in a foreign language (A, N)
