Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to offer students an insight into the medical fields of orthopedics, neurology, psychiatry, genetics, ORL, ophthalmology from a propaedeutical point of view. Besides, the course accents the necessity to be familiar with the knowledge of human development and first aid. A student is presented with the knowledge of these fields of study in order to supply their needs as a future graduate.
Student can describe the orthopedic examination, knows the function and structure of the locomotor system. Student can define the basic characteristics of the muscular system diseases, including the classification of the defects. The student knows the neurologic examinations and the main neurologic syndromes. The student can describe the basic characteristics of peripheral nerve diseases, seizure disorders, and vascular/inflammatory diseases of the nervous system. The student is well informed in the sphere of psychiatric diseases with specialization in cognitive processes, their diagnosis, therapy, and prevention. Student can demonstrate knowledge in ORL, ophthalmology with specialization in congenital and acquired disorders of the hearing, voice, and speech. The student knows the basics of genetics. The student knows the particular child's developmental stages and their basic characteristic.
Prerequisites
The student knows the different developmental stages of child development and its basic characteristics. The student can describe the examination in orthopaedics, knows the function and structure of the locomotor system. The student can define the basic characteristics of musculoskeletal disorders, including the classification of their defects. The student is familiar with neurological examinations and the major neurological syndromes, and can describe the basic characteristics of peripheral nerve, seizure, vascular, and inflammatory diseases of the nervous system. The student is familiar with psychiatric diseases, focusing on cognitive processes, their diagnosis, therapy and prevention. The student will demonstrate knowledge of ENT, ophthalmology, with a focus on congenital and acquired disorders of hearing, voice, and speech The student has a basic understanding of human genetics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Active participation in class is required. Each student prepares a seminar paper on the assigned topic, which is submitted at least one week before credit is awarded. Review and evaluation of individual work by the instructor is a prerequisite for receiving credit and for advancing to the examination. The examination will be in the form of a written test, with a minimum success rate of 75%.
