Course content
|
Conceptual framework (health, disease, health literacy, determinants of health, lifestyle, active approach to health, prevention and health promotion). The role of the WHO World Health Organization (Health 2020). Development of the health status of the population of the Czech Republic. Principles, importance and goals of health policy, health care system. Financing of health care, health services - legislation, management of health care. Quality of services provided. System of universal health insurance in the Czech Republic. Current concept of public health care, current concept of social medicine and its multidisciplinarity. Providers of health services. Ethical dilemmas of contemporary medicine, health - social system of care for patients with specific needs

Learning outcomes
|
After completing the course Public Health, students should be able to: - define the terms health, disease, determinants of health with an emphasis on social determinants, - describe the healthcare system in the Czech Republic, - demonstrate orientation in the laws on healthcare services, - explain the principles of healthcare financing, - formulate methods of healthcare management, - determine the basic principles of quality management in healthcare.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam, Student performance, Dialog
Recommended attendance at lectures. Exam requirements: students register for the written exam in the STAG study agenda system (via the UP Portal). Requirements for students with an individual study plan: full-time teaching in the range of min. 20%; see above (identical exam requirements). Requirements for students during the ERASMUS+ study stay: 1) As a substitute for participation in direct teaching: preparation of a semester paper on a given topic related to its specifics in the visited country and university and its submission to STAG, in the "Semester Paper" section under the subject abbreviation KAZ/PCLV@ by the dates set at the beginning of the semester. The scope of the paper and its structure will be specified at the beginning of the semester via email communication using the student's generated email address in the UP Portal. 2) Completion of the course will take place after the student returns from the study stay to the Czech Republic in the same form as for full-time students, on a specific date agreed in advance with the student and entered into STAG.
