Course content
Prenatal peroid - embryonic, fetal and perinatal (teratogenic factors); Childbirth; infant period (newborn and infant), toddler period, characteristics of ontogenetic development in preschool period, early and later school-age; puberty; adolescence; adulthood; evaluation of the somatic condition (children and adults). Hygiene - basic terminology, division of the field, hygienic requirements for material equipment of school - capacity, location and school parcel, school building, school furniture, sanitary facilities; school environment hygiene - heating, conditioning, lighting, noise protection, hygienic requirements for recovery actions for children and adolescents, trips, rambles, tours; hygiene of students- biological rhythms, schoolwork, psychogenic stress; workplace hygiene - job strain of teachers; illnesses related to teacher's working environment; nutritional hygiene - composition of nutrition, nutrient recommendations, school feeding; pupil's protection against infectious diseases in school environment. Integrated Rescue System, safety rules, ethical aspects of providing first aid, medical examination of children, school first aid kit, teacher's task when providing first aid to children, positions of the afflicted, CPR, disorders of consciousness, shock, bleeding, first aid for thermal wounds, frostbites and electric burns, head spinal and spinal cord injury, chest, abdominal and pelvis injury; bone and joint injury, acid burn, injuries caused by animals, poisoning and urgent non-accidental cases, topics of first aid in curricular documents.

Learning outcomes
After passing the course, students should be able to: - Characterize ontogenetic development of an individual in prenatal period, - Desdcribe somatic and development distinctions of an individual in postnatal period, - Specify in details development periods of early and later school-age and adolescence, - Explain determinants of human growth, - Apply the methods of evaluation of the somatic condition (for children and adults), - Clarify the basic terminology of hygiene as a field of science, - Apply material equipment requirements on school and take care about class microclimate, - Justify the influence of biological rhytms on pupil's performance in school, - Describe the illnesses, which have impact on teacher's performance, - Consider the situation, in case of injury or sudden health malfunction (kids) - Call the emergency services - Set the individual into the right position, according to the injury or sudden health malfunction - Provide first aid for unconscious individual, bleeding and shock - Recognize the necessity of beginning the CPR and provide it actively - Treat wounds, fractures, open and closed abdominal and chest wounds - Provide first aid for head and spinal injury, for acute poisoning, and sudden health malfunctions (epilepsy, asthma and diabetes)
After finishing this course, student should be able to: - Explain growth genesis of the individual child, according to percentile graphs, - Characterize basic biological, anatomical and physiological terms, - Define relationship between individual organ systems, - Recognize mistakes in pupil's personal hygiene, - Elaborate a summary of hygienic conditions of the individual school building, - Prove the existence of relationships between hygiene of students and mental hygiene on the individual student, - Organize process of providing first aid, - Recognize symptoms and provide basic diagnosis of the sudden health malfunctions and health-threatening injuries, - Provide adequate first aid treatment for life-threatening and health-threatening situations.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of human biology, hygiene and first aid (High school/secondary school level).
