Learning outcomes
|
The goal is to introduce students to the basics of cultural and social anthropology as a holistic scientific discipline of man, culture and society, exploring the origin, evolution, structure and functioning of different socio-cultural systems in time and space. For social anthropology in the spirit of the British anthropological tradition, the central concept of the company. Emphasis is placed on the study of values, institutions and habits that are formed in the context of social structure. For cultural anthropology, which has an American tradition is the central concept of culture, in terms of specific human negenetických phenomena, manifested in the artifacts, norms, regulative and ideas shared by some members of society. Students should, of course you learn the basic terminology of social and cultural anthropology, to familiarize themselves with the major anthropological theories and basic methodological procedures for the inherent cultural and social anthropology. They should understand the fact of cultural diversity and ethnocentrism, learn to argue in favor of cultural relativism, and in particular the practical ability to accept cultural pluralism.
Student: - knows the position of social and cultural anthropology in the system of anthropological sciences; - knows the basic terminology and content of social anthropology; - knows the basic terminology and content of cultural anthropology; - can name and explain the main anthropological theories; - displays the knowledge the basic methodological procedures used in social and cultural anthropology; - is able to eliminate ethnocentric attitudes in favour of culturally relativistic approaches; - displays knowledge of social and cultural anthropology and can apply those in work of a social pedagogue.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance, Dialog, Seminar Work
Active participation in the seminars; the written seminar work on a selected topic from social and cultural anthropology (with citation of at least one foreign author - translation from a world language), in range of 5 - 8 pages in A4 format, and its subsequent presentation; the collokvium.
