Course content
|
Terms - health, disease, health literacy, determinants of health, lifestyle, active health approach, health promotion, medical terminology. Disease and health theory. Health conditions of the population in CR - means of influencing, demographic data, internal and external factors, risk domains. Disease - diagnostics, diagnosis, symptom, syndrome, etiology, pathogenesis. Reaction of an organism to strain, forms and process of disease. Inurement. Protective and risk factors of a lifestyle - namely nutrition and movement. Non-infectious epidemies as the most frequent cause of death and their prevention. Infectious, degenerative, metabolic, etc. diseases. Health literacy. Healthcare system. Healthcare services.

Learning outcomes
|
After passing the course, students should be able to: - Define the basic terminology and models and disease, - Prove the knowledge of the basic medical terminology, - Explain the term determinants of health (including the domains of lifestyle), - Explain the terms etiopathogenesis, therapy and possible endings of infectious, non- infectious, degenerative and other diseases, - Describe prevention principles (particularly primary and general prevention), - Explain health(care) system principles and levels of particular medical services, - Argue in favor of active health approach and responsibility for health of an individual and others, - Clarify the teacher's responsibility for pupil's health protection, Prove the elementary knowledge of the health promotion projects and programs.

Assessment methods and criteria
|

Requirements for credit: 1) Each student will successfully complete a continuous test from the discussed thematic unit in October 2025. 2) They will create a portfolio that they will submit to the SZZ, and in which they will insert partial tasks and certificates of implemented activities throughout the bachelor's study (e.g. participation in conferences, internships, professional practices, etc.). 3) They will choose a specific diagnosis from the offered diagnoses of infectious or non-infectious disease and process it in the following structure: classification of the disease in terms of epidemiology, etiopathogenesis and therapy of the disease, its prevalence in the Czech Republic. Analysis of the offered preventive measures (MoH, individual health insurance companies, state and non-profit organizations), health support programs and projects (supranational org. = WHO and national institutions = SZÚ, CZSO, ÚZIS, NZIP). Draw from professional literature, professional articles (possible also in English) - with a written analysis by the student (min. scope 1-2 A4 pages); 4) Attach a selection of a suitable video related to the selected diagnosis - with a written analysis by the student (min. scope 1 A4 page). 5) All sources used will be cited both in the text itself and in the final "List of sources" in accordance with ČSN ISO 690:2022. 6) Insert the semester work into STAG, in the "Semester work" section under the subject abbreviation KAZ/KBTZ@ by the deadlines set at the beginning of the semester. Exam requirements: After approving the inserted seminar work file (in the UP Portal - accepted), it is possible to register for the written exam in the STAG study agenda system (again via the UP Portal).
