Course content
Introduction to biology and basics of cytology. Types of tissues and their differences. Organ systems, their anatomy and functions. Locomotor system (skeletal system and muscular system). Cardiovascular system and bodily fluids. Respiratory system. Digestive system and metabolism. Urogenital system. Nervous system. Endocrine system. Sensory system and receptors. Child examination, overall assessment of child's condition, growth curves and their importance for assessing development and proportionality of child. Ontogenetic development. Characteristic of human postnatal development with focus on preschool age. Information sources considering human biology in preschool age.

Learning outcomes
After passing this course students should be able to: - Define terms: child, preschool age and ontogenetic development, - Explain the importance of growth curves in relation to human proportionality, - Define basic anatomic terms, e.g. skeleton, heart, stomach etc., - Explain the connection between human organ systems, - List and characterize individual parts of given organ system, e.g. respiratory system, - Assess didactic value of preschool child biology problematic, - Assess the quality of environmental factors influencing the growth and development of preschool child and younger school-age child, - Analyze the level of current understanding of postnatal development of people with focus on preschool age.
After passing this course the student should acquire the competence to: Explaining growth genesis of specific child based on percentile graphs, Characterize basic biological, anatomic and physiological terms, Explain relations between individual human organ systems.

Understanding of human biology on high school level
