Learning outcomes
The course aims at acquiring and consolidating basic principles and techniques of listening comprehension. The course focuses on listening to texts of different speeds, comprehension of monologues, dialogues and discussions and widening the students' range of listening topics and techniques of listening comprehension. Aims: After completing the course students will be able to: - understand most of the recorded listening material in standard spoken language, - understand the main ideas of concrete and abstract topics in standard spoken language, - identify the speaker's tone and mood, - identify the speaker's opinions and attitudes, - understand extended speech and more complex argumentation if these are sign-posted by explicit markers, - understand a clearly structured lecture and note important points.
