Aims: After completing the course students will be able to: - characterize the English language with respect to language typology, - describe and understand the system of English morphology, syntax and lexicology based on the background of students' mother tongue, - demonstrate understanding of the systematic differences between English and students' mother tongue analysing authentic English texts and their translations, - briefly characterize the development of English grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Topics: Typological classification of English base on the background of students' mother tongue. English morphology. English syntax. English lexicology and word formation. Historical development of the English language.
