Learning outcomes
|
This course is designed to provide a survey of American literature in the 20th century. Significant poetry, drama and prose works will be studied. The goal of this course is to enhance students' ability to read critically, by the term's end, students should be familiar with different literary periods, the writers most associated with them and with the aims of a particular movement or school of thoughts. By the end of the semester students will be familiar with various literary genres and with the terms and expressions necessary for analyzing a literary text. Course requirements to receive credits: to read and study assigned texts at home, to participate actively in the class discussions, to pass short tests in the course of the semester, to write an essay. There will be oral colloquium at the end of the semester.
