Course content
|
This course deals with the problematics of class management in English language teaching at primary and lower secondary schools. Attention is paid to the following areas: - Learner and teacher roles in the classroom, - Benefits of and techniques for putting learners into pairs and groups, - Creating a positive classroom atmosphere, - Dealing with discipline problems, - Dealing with dominant learners, - Encouraging less confident learners, - Motivating learners of all abilities, - Promoting effective learner cooperation.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will be able to: - evaluate advantages and disadvantages of pair and group work, - know and choose appropriate ways of putting learners into pairs and groups, - use appropriate strategies to maintain class discipline, - use appropriate strategies to deal with learners of all abilities, - motivate different types of learners.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Seminar Work
- at least 80% attendance of the lessons (70% for individual study plan students), extra work will be given to those who do not meet this requirement due to legitimate reasons (e.g. illness), - active participation in the seminars, - completion of all class-work tasks.
