Learning outcomes
|
This course focuses on academic writing through a series of exercises that take students from the construction of paragraphs up to a 1000-word argumentative essay. We will also deal with the structuring and organisation of arguments and how to write an effective introduction and conclusion. Another important element of the course is that we will consider such matters as note-taking, summarising, paraphrasing, avoiding plagiarism, referencing, and the compilation of bibliographies. Again, special attention is paid to learning from mistakes through guided self-correction.
