Course content
Introduction, importance of the pathology, interdisciplinary connections, methods. Necrosis, atrophy. Dystrophy. Inflammation: sense, causes, manifestation, classification. Specific and nonspecific inflammation. Basic oncology. Circulatory disturbances - local and systemic changes. Overview of central nervous system pathology. Most frequent diseases alterating of optical pathway. Pathology of eye accesories (eyelid, lacrimal organs) and soft tissues of eye socket. Inflammatory diseases of eye, rethinopathy, and pathology of optical cord. Changes of intraocular pressure, cataract, turbidity of vitreous body. Tumours of the eye.

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the pathology of tissues, organs and organ systems. It provides a comprehensive picture of the disease by connecting interdisciplinary information from cause to effect. After completing the course, the student will be able to correctly use and understand professional terminology, will be familiar with morphological and functional changes in tissues, organs and organ systems with an emphasis on the frequency of diseases in general and according to the focus of the field. Will understand the causes and consequences of diseases, know the dynamics of changes associated with the development of the disease and therapeutic interventions.
Student will be able to apply acquired knowledge in diagnostic-therapeutic practise.
Prerequisites
Passing this course of the Pathology requires konwledge of human biology at the high school level.

Mark, Written exam

Attendance at seminars is compulsory. Knowledge of general and special pathology is required to the extent discussed in lessons.
