Obsah předmětu
|
The basic science of diagnostics, surgical/non-surgical procedures, acute conditions, and many clinically important diseases are taught in the first part of the block. Detailed understanding of particular surgical procedures including postoperative care and outcome measuring is subject of the second week. Students are exposed to inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic practice in the last part of the teaching block.

Výstupy z učení
|
Student will get acquainted with general principles of orthopaedic surgery; they will be introduced into prevention, diagnostics and therapy of most frequent orthopaedic diseases. Special attention will be given to acute conditions in orthopaedics.
Graduates should be able to understand basic orthopaedic terminology, diagnostic algorithms, and therapeutic interventions. They should be able to obtain patient history related to musculoskeletal diseases, perform basic examination of musculoskeletal system, understand general principles of technical orthopaedics and postoperative care.

Známkou, Ústní zkouška
Participation in the whole duration of the block (six missing hours will be accepted) and passing an exam. The students are divided into 2 groups, each of which complete in practical exercises at the Orthopedic department and at the Neurosurgery department. Familiarize with individual workplaces, learn to interact with the patient, perform selected tasks - eg. stitch extraction, gypsum fixation, orthosis. Over the course of last week of the teaching Orthopedics, all students will be required to pass an exam from one practical question.
