Course content
Lectures provides the suitable theoretical preparation for the realisation of the relevant practical activities. The practical tutorials (demonstration and training of the diagnostics) are realized in the real situations at the clinical ophthalmological ambulances and wards of the Eye Clinics with the modern equipment. Diseases of additional organs of the eye (lids, lacrimal glands, lacrimal paths, external extraocular muscles). Inflammatory and non-inflammatory diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva. Diseases of the eye lens, cataract surgery, aphakia and pseudoafakie. Diseases of the uvea (iris, ciliary body, choroid), vitreous, retina. Diseases of the optic nerve, orbit. Speeches eye in internal neurological and infectious diseases (diabetes, hypertension, vascular sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, neuritis, toxoplasmosis, toxocarosis). Glakom. Injuries of the eye and orbit. Strabismus concomitans, incomitans. Tumors of the eye (retiblastom, melanoma). Diseases in Childhood (retinopathy of prematurity, closures lacrimal disorders, cataract, glaucoma, strabismus). Emergency conditions in ophthalmology, their diagnosis and treatment. Pharmacokinetics and effects of drugs on eye tissue. Steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ATB, Antialergics, chemotherapeutics, antiseptics, virostatics, vasodilators, antiglaukomatous drugs, local anesthetics, diagnostic and therapeutic ophthalmic drugs (miosis, mydriasis, cykloplegics). Vitamins. Epithelial solutions and ointments. Adverse effects of ophthalmic drugs. Therapeutic contact lenses.

Learning outcomes
Students will get essential knowledge and skills of the field of clinical ophthalmology necessary for the job of an optometrist, they will master differential diagnostics of urgent conditions, they will learn how to provide first aid in eye injuries.
Students have mastered knowledge on most common eye diseases, they are capable of diagnosing urgent ophthalmological conditions as well as of providing first aid in each of them.
Prerequisites
Completed secondary education.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

To describe the clinical picture, diagnostics and treatment in the case of the eye problems. To master the differential diagnostics of urgent states. To be able to provide first aid in eye injuries. To know the effects of the ophthalmologic medicaments including adverse effects.
