Course content
|
Pathological sepsis. Bacterial pathogens causing sepsis, initial microbiological background of antibiotic therapy. Pharmacological therapy in patients with sepsis. Sepsis in surgical patients. Intensive care in patients with MODS. Sepsis in otorhinolaryngology (ENT).

Learning outcomes
|
To provide students with a comprehensive view of sepsis. Step by step, approaches of individual medical specializations to sepsis will be presented that aim at timely diagnosis, detection of the aetiological agent and adequate treatment procedures.
The students will be able to implement the acquired knowledge and skills both in the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to patients with sepsis.

Successful completion of Microbiology 2, Pharmacology 1 and Pathological Physiology.
MIK/VCA12 and PFY/VCB12 and FAR/VCB11
