Course content
Content pharmacology. Drug nomenclature, dosage forms, route of administration medication, types of therapy -Pharmacodynamics, mechanisms of drug action -Pharmacokinetics. Factors affecting the fate of drug in organism -Pharmacology of autonomic nervous system -Pharmacotherapy of CNS, pain management and anesthesia -Pharmacology of the cardiovascular system -Pharmacology of the respiratory system, gastrointestinal system -Nursing specifics of important areas of special pharmacology

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical. Subject contains general pharmacology (pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics) and fundamentals of special pharmacology. The course introduces students to the groups of drugs, their dosage forms and principles of administration. The course is mainly focused on the principles of the interactions of medicines with human organism.
Students will: -know, understand and be able to use of the principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics -be able to educate patients and their relatives in the pharmacotherapy issues -have the basic knowledge of drugs affecting autonomic nervous system, pain, CNS, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, gastrointestinal system -be able to explain and to use the knowledge of general pharmacology in studying the specifics of pharmacotherapy in internal and pediatric intensive care

Assessment methods and criteria

100% participation in lectures and seminars, active participation in all seminars, passing all written tests with a minimum of 70% success rate. After meeting the stated conditions, the course ends with an exam.
