Main topics of the subject: -bleeding into the digestive tract, -syncope and disturbances of consciousness, -intoxication, -electric shock, -acute artery occlusion and dissecting aortic aneurysm, -severe disorders of metabolism and internal environment, hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia -shock, physiopathology, division, symptomatology, differential diagnosis, therapy -principles of resuscitation in shock states according to aetiology -selected chapters in hematology -selected chapters from dermatovenerology

Learning outcomes |
The subject is conceived as theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, students acquaint themselves with the most common diseases of the internal nature, which are the cause of acute, often life-threatening situations. These are conditions that are the cause of a rapid emergency rescue service that may be encountered in patients hospitalized in an intensive care unit. In the practical part the student acquaints himself with the most frequent abnormalities of electrocardiogram they may encounter in monitored patients.
The student is able to recognize the situation when the patient is at risk of life and the doctor must be summoned. Furthermore, the student is able to orientate in the principles of basic therapies in individual situations of internal medicine. |

Assessment methods and criteria |
Oral exam, Student performance, Dialog, Systematic Observation of Student, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio
Students have to attend 90% attendance at lectures and exercises. When the attendance conditions are fulfilled, the student fulfills the conditions for passing a credit test. The actual exam will consist of a part of the theoretical part and a practical part which will consist of a basic description of a typical electrocardiogram. |
