Course content
Main topics of the subject: - acute coronary syndrome, - hypertensive crisis, - pulmonary embolism, - heart rhythm disorders, - asthma attack, - acute renal failure.

Learning outcomes
The subject is conceived as theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, students acquaint themselves with the most common diseases of the internal nature, which are the cause of acute, often life-threatening situations. These are conditions that are the cause of a rapid emergency rescue service that may be encountered in patients hospitalized in an intensive care unit. In the practical part the student acquaints himself with the most frequent abnormalities of electrocardiogram they may encounter in monitored patients.
After graduation, the student will be able to assess acute and life-threatening conditions associated with internal illnesses.

Assessment methods and criteria
Dialog, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio, Seminar Work

The student has to attend 90% attendance at the lectures and prepare a seminar paper on the topic of acute medical conditions in internal medicine. The written assignment will be written in the form of 5-10 pages and will be presented in powerpoint form within a ten minute presentation. Approval of the content and form of the assigned task is a prerequisite, subject to the attendance conditions, for the granting of the credit and subsequent admission to the exam. The actual test will consist of a part of the theoretical part and a practical part that will consist of a basic description of a typical electrocardiogram.
