Course content
|
The philosophy of midwifery as a modern scientific discipline. Terminology, classification systems, outline of methodology research in midwifery. Conceptual models of various authors and their use in midwifery. Multicultural dimension in midwifery, KM Leiningerové. Defining culture, ethnicity, society, common and different features. Culture and ethnicity in interpersonal relationships in the family. Cultural and ethnic dimensions of health, disease, and death. Rituals. Multicultural Society - implications for health / midwife services. Cultural aspects in midwifery. Multicultural society in the country. The spiritual life of human - the content, significance, fundamental religious movements and their rules to regulate the behavior of its members. Major religious rituals in relation to the woman, pregnant woman, birth, death and dying.

Learning outcomes
|
The course builds on knowledge from the course Fundamentals of the theory of midwifery from the previous class. System-defined midwifery as a modern scientific discipline with its own philosophy, value system under examination, theoretical models, standard terminology, classification systems and methodologies.
Students completing the event will: - understand and correctly use the terminology and conceptual apparatus in Midwifery - understand the fundamentals of holistic philosophy and holistic approach in health care, women, families and communities - be able theoretical and philosophical insight into the problems of care in midwifery - be able to apply theoretical knowledge to current professional practice in midwifery and actively use them in individualized to the needs of the patient / client oriented care. - know and use the knowledge of conceptual models in Midwifery know how to properly use the terms - ethnicity, culture, spirituality, faith, religion - be able to implement the process of care in midwifery for the clients with regard to their ethnic, cultural and religious specificities
