Course content
|
The course includes a total of 24 hours, of which 14 contact and 10 non-contact hours. Content: Medical documentation, character, content and importance in providing health care. Sources of legal regulation of medical documentation, the position of the patient and other persons in connection with the documentation of health care. Medical documentation management, principles of medical documentation management, national health information system. Nursing documentation, character, meaning, content. Individual types of nursing documentation, their management, control, responsibility of the general nurse. Retention and rights to access patient documentation, complaints. Electronic documentation, photo documentation. Documenting specific situations and events in connection with the provision of nursing care. Basics of health informatics. Information systems in healthcare (outpatient information system, hospital information systems)

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to present the students with elementary problems of medical records, introduce them to the legal aspects, regulations and obligations defined by law regarding medical records. Students will learn about the content, writing, amending medical records, types of documentation, keeping the records and rights to access the patient's record. The main task of this course is to teach students to work with nursing records, which is a part of medical records.
After completion, student will: - know the content of act No. 20/1966 Coll. regarding medical records - know the legal obligations of medical records - be able to explain the forms of medical documentation - be able to list all the people entitled to access patient's medical record - know the advantages of nursing process for the patient and the nurse - be able to describe the basic stages or nursing process and explain the meaning of each element - be able to construct nursing plan, perform daily records, make quality nursing records and bear responsibility for it.
